Be Your Own Master

Your Thoughts Are Holding You Back

Your brain is responsible for 80% of your total daily energy consumption.

Every thought takes immense amounts of energy.

Have you ever gotten stuck in a negative thought loop?

Spending minutes thinking about worst case scenarios.

Catastrophisizing, stressing yourself out.

Imagine the energy this takes.

Your brain can’t even function properly after a session like this.

This is where you have to be careful.

You need to learn how to break these loops if you want your brain to be efficient.

Creativity, creation, thinking: these all require energy. You can’t waste it.

How to avoid negative thought loops:

First, you have to be aware you have these loops.

Think back a time when you just couldn’t break out of one.

What was your immediate reaction?

Most of the time we distract ourselves.

Watching TV, listening to music, scrolling social media

These activities fill our brains with more information.

It’s like putting more stuff into a box when it’s already overflowing.

You don’t clean out your room by making more mess.

You have to put everything in their place first.

You have to create order in your mind.

Realize when you are starting down a negative loop.

Catch yourself.

Break the cycle at the start.

A great way to break out of these is writing down your thoughts.

Find a pen and paper.

Write down the thought that started off the loop.

Then go back to the source.

Ask yourself, where did this thought come from?

Why did I think this?

Is it based on reality?

Is this worth to think about?

Does it get better if you think more about it?

Can you come up with a solution by thinking?

This method can make you realize the futility of overthinking.

If you have a solution, then do something to make things better.

If there’s no clear solution, then try to analyze the solution.

Use logic instead of catastrophizing.

As soon as emotions are involved, stop what you are doing.

Write it out.

Get it on paper.

Let your brain breathe.

Meditating and taking a walk can also help.

Give your mind an outlet to clear itself.

Constructive thoughts cannot emerge in a mind full of worry.

A clear mind is the base for creativity.

If you control your mind, you control your decisions.

If you control your decisions, you control your life.

If you control your life, you control your life.

Take your destiny into your own hands.

Be your own master.
