Embrace the Suck: Your Guide to Mastery and Success

At first, you will not be great at it. It’s the first time you’re doing it, chill. There’s nothing wrong with making a couple of mistakes. The only thing that matters is that you learn.

Learn from your mistakes. Learn from your failures. Learn from doing the thing. This is how you get better. Continuous improvement, starting from the very first step.

Every great started as a newbie. Every master started as a student. There is no shortcut to this. You either put in the work, and become great in the process, or you don’t even start, and never get good.

This is why it’s important to be patient with yourself, with your results, with your skills. It’s going to take time. You will get better, but not instantly. The more time you spend doing something, the better you will be. Guaranteed.

You need long term goals to know where you are going. But those are hard to translate into daily actions. So you need to break them into smaller, short-term goals. Let’s see how it could look like.

Breaking Down Your Goals

Let’s say your 5 year goal is to have X amount of money in your bank account.

That’s cool and good, but how will you achieve it?

That means you need to make x/5 each year.

That can be broken down x/5/12 into each month.

Is it the amount you’re currently saving? No?

Then you need to increase your potential income.

Let’s ideate how you can do that.

What skills do you currently possess that can be turned into income?

Can you shoot for a promotion in your company, or ask for a raise?

Do you have a side-hustle that could enable you to match the desired income?

If you answered “yes” to any of these, then you know what to do.

If you answered “no” to all of these, then read on.

You now need a strategy to match your goal monthy income.

The first thing:

Skills

Can you leverage your skills to increase your salary?

Maybe even switch to a higher-paying job in the company you work for.

If you’re doing low-value work, see if you can move into a high-value position.

Any kind of coding knowledge can be turned into gold.

If you don’t have any skills, then it’s time to learn some.

It can be anything related to your current job, or something brand new.

The point is that it enables you to make more money. That’s it.

Side-Hustle

If you are tired of the work you currently do, you can try starting a side-hustle.

These can be anything that enables you another source of income.

I’m sure there are things you enjoy doing that could be turned into money.

Figure out ways to monetize your passions, and you will be set for life.

In case you can’t, then look for any kind of side-hustle you could start.

The point is to start turning your free-time into income.

The more the better, obviously.

Consistency

Now that you figured out what to do, it’s time to walk the path.

Consistency is key.

Even when progress seems slow, keep showing up and putting in the effort.

Over time, your dedication will pay off.

Set a schedule or routine that works for you and stick to it.

Consistent practice leads to mastery.

Seek Feedback

Don't be afraid to seek feedback from others. Constructive criticism can be incredibly valuable in helping you improve.

Surround yourself with supportive people who can provide honest insights and encouragement. Remember, feedback is not a reflection of your worth, but a tool for growth.

Adapt and Adjust

Be flexible and willing to adapt your approach as needed. If something isn't working, don't be afraid to try a different strategy.

The path to success is rarely a straight line. Stay open to new ideas and be willing to pivot when necessary.

Embrace the Journey

Remember, the journey is just as important as the destination.

Embrace the process of learning and growing. Celebrate small victories along the way.

And don't be too hard on yourself when things don't go as planned. Every step forward, no matter how small, is progress.

Stay Positive

Maintaining a positive mindset is crucial.

Focus on what you can control and stay optimistic about your potential.

Surround yourself with positivity.

Whether it's through

  • inspirational quotes,

  • uplifting music,

  • or supportive friends and family.

Keep Learning

Never stop learning.

Continuously seek out new knowledge and skills that can help you on your journey.

Read books, take courses, attend workshops, and stay curious.

The more you learn, the more equipped you'll be to overcome challenges and achieve your goals.
