Natural ADHD Management: A Lifestyle Guide for Better Focus

Let me tell you a story. A story about a guy named P.

P is 27 years old, he has been struggling with ADHD for the past years. It made his life extremely difficult, struggling to focus on studies, work, anything really. His life seems to be out of his control, and even though he’s a really smart guy, he cannot use it to create a better life for himself. The lack of focus means he’s not going anywhere.

Now, let me tell another story, the story of L. He’s 31 years old. He also has ADHD, and had the same struggles. He started, but never finished two different universities as well, he was doing the bare minimum at work, had no confidence, and reading anything felt like hell. However, L has decided to change his life. Started eating clean, working out regularly, not watching social media, short-form video content, and generally focus on keeping his dopamine levels in check.

L is now the best performer at work, finishes a book in about a week, pursuing creative hobbies, focusing on skills and building his life again. He feels he wasted the first 30 years of his life, but now he’s like a changed man. In a year, he has turned his life around, and it feels like he caught up for at least 5 wasted years. The next 2 years will bring complete changes in his life, he’s sure of that.

Now, I don’t want to say ADHD is treatable naturally. These two might be outlying examples. But you can’t deny the effectiveness of living a naturally healthy lifestyle, both on brain health, and mental health. This is the easiest way to get up to speed quickly, without the need of any kind of medication.

Being able to focus and do meaningful work. Studying and retaining any kind of information. Reading effortlessly. These all contribute to self-esteem, which then turns into a higher quality of life. You can’t argue with these facts. I think it’s worth a shot, if you ask me.

Spend a few months following this blueprint, and see if it helps:

Eating Clean

Pick any kind of diet you want to try. It could vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, paleo, anything really. The point is to minimize processed foods, and focus on high-quality, home-made meals. I suggest eating a lot of vegetables, fruits, lean protein, seeds, and nuts. These will supply your body with the necessary vitamins and nutrients to perform at the highest levels.

There are a couple of brain-boosting foods as well, these include: blueberries, almonds, bananas, broccoli, nuts, pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate, eggs. Consuming at least one of these daily will make your brain-fog disappear.

Regular Movement

Don’t think about working out 7 times a week, 2 hours each day. You only need about an hour of movement a day. This can be walking even. Let’s say you do a 30 minutes walk after lunch, and a 30 minutes workout at home. Doing this every day is perfectly enough. The point is to use up the physical energy, so your brain can focus on the mental tasks. ADHD means too much energy, which then makes the brain restless. Using up this excess will turn your mind into a laser-sharp machine. And you’ll look good in a couple of weeks.

Dopamine Control

This might be the most important, and the hardest to do, in today’s society. We’ve talked about the importance of dopamine, and how society is built on providing as much false dopamine as it can. Your job is to make sure you are avoiding the temptation, whatever the cost. Cheap dopamine is a killer for an ADHD brain. The lack of focus becomes 10x harder when the brain is bombarded with constant stimuli.

This is one of the hardest things to do at first. Transitioning from constant dopamine feeds to a low-dopaminergic, calming environment. If you’re anything like me, you spend most of your day listening to music, then watching youtube, movies, a series, or playing video games; this was how I spent every day. Constant dopamine stimulation. No rest for the brain. Focus is non-existent at that point.

The goal is to slow your brain down as much as you can. Scrolling, short-form videos, video games. These need to be minimized, even completely cut out if necessary. It will literally destroy your focus. Instead, for example, try to read, write, journal, or draw. Watching movies or just one series is fine, as these are long form, and makes you focus on the plot more. But no phone during the movie!! Meditation, and any kind of activity that shuts off your brain, is the best remedy for lack of focus. It completely refreshes your mind, and makes focusing way easier afterwards.

Nootropics

In this day and age, nootropics have been gaining popularity. These are natural brain-enhancing supplements, targeting the brain directly. We’ve touched on the topic already, some of these are perfect remedies for ADHD.

In Conclusion

All in all, ADHD just means your brain works overtime, making focus harder. But once you harness this power, the full capacity of your mind can be used to create wonderful things in life.

By following these guidelines, you can unleash your hidden powers, and create a life of happiness for yourself. No time to waste, get on the path now!
