The Power of Solitude

Why It’s Necessary To Be Alone

There’s a stigma in today’s society:

You must have a significant other, otherwise you must be lonely and sad.

You need to spend time with people every single day.

Preferably every minute, thanks to the internet.

But you still feel the draw to be alone.

You want to be alone, but at the same time, don’t enjoy being alone.

This creates a division within us.

Soul wants Peace, Mind wants Chaos.

Why Be Alone?

Where does this need to be “alone” come from?

This is the way our Soul communicates to us.

Discomfort.

When you feel the need to be alone, that’s your Soul telling you to spend time listening to it.

And there is no other way to hear what it wants, what YOU want, when you are distracted.

In this phase, other people are a distraction.

You must spend time with yourself, in solitude, in peace.

Quiet thinking.

This is what your Soul craves.

You want to know yourself better.

How would you be able when you are constantly surrounded by others?

How would you tell your own voice from others’?

Your ears are full.

And Your head is full.

How To Be Alone?

Just because you are alone, it doesn’t mean you’re lonely.

Just because there’s noone around, it doesn’t mean you’re spending time with yourself.

Being “lonely” means you are longing for connection.

Most people satisfy this need with the company of others.

But I’m sure you’ve had the “alone in the crowd” moments.

It’s not about the people, but about connections.

If you can’t connect, there’s nothing to fill your Soul.

And you better believe it, you can fill this void by connecting to Yourself as well.

This is why Solitude is a necessary part of the process.

Your Soul is calling you to connect with it.

Here are the two most common techniques how to hear your own internal voice:

  • Meditation: You spend time with your thoughts, getting to the root of your being, connecting to your emotions, observing your behaviour. A chaotic mind will make this process hard at first, but gradually your head will clear out, and you can finally reach inner peace by practicing regularly.

  • Journaling: The most common way of clearing your head. You take the time to get the thoughts out on a paper, which clears them from the inside. This is like clogging a toilet (sorry for the mental image), you need to clear the pipes to get clean thoughts.

The Result

If you take the time regularly to connect with your inner Self, you will find that connection.

You can now feel your emotions, hear your thoughts, see your ambitions.

You now got to know yourself at a deeper level.

You are not distracted by how others think of you, how they feel about you.

You are now connected to yourself, know yourself.

This gives you a sense of certainty in your Being.

Your self-discipline is elevated.

You trust yourself more.

And you feel peace inside.

The War is now finished.
